Apple’s iPad to lag behind Android Smartphone this year: IDC » Google Play News
2 min readThe leading research firm International Data Corp (IDC) has quoted that the sale of Apple’s iPad will lag behind the Android Smartphone this year. Major reason for this extreme result is that people prefer to use the small sized phone more than the large phones, which are somewhat quite cumbersome to handle. This is a major setback for Apple and its domination in the market. The speculations which will arise from this news will again be interesting to count upon. Apple’s think tank needs to look out for alternatives to make up this downward trend. We may see some surprising announcements from Apple pretty soon.
Statistical figures: Apple iPad vs Android Tablets
Apple iPad’s shipment has seen a decrease from 51% to 46% in the world market while on the other hand Android tablets have registered a hike from 42% to 49% from the last year. The major players in the Android market are Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle. Trying to make up the market share loss, Apple has itself unveiled the smaller sized Apple Mini tablet in last November.
“One in every two tablets shipped this quarter was below 8 inches in screen size. And in terms of shipments, we expect smaller tablets to continue growing in 2013 and beyond,” IDC Official said in a press conference.
Even, you must have heard about the release of Slate7 tablet from Hewlett Packard Co. This tablet was released to make a way in through the tablet market as the Company is trying to deviate its resources from the shrinking PC market to Smartphone market. The result from Slate 7 has been “so far, so good”. There are several other instances as well where various IT companies are looking forward to the Smartphone market.
Future of Windows tablets
IDC has put forward a report about the Windows tablet as well. As per the figures, tablets using the Windows 8 OS will see a gradual rise in its market share from 1% to 7 % by 2017. It is definitely a good news for the Microsoft but they still need to work on its OS. They need to make their OS much more user friendly for the consumers. Their R&D Department needs to be given a new guideline to work upon. The main problem with Windows 8 OS is that the older software is not compatible enough to work on this OS. Microsoft needs to search out a way in order to increase their dominance in the market.
